Listed as a French restaurant in the heart of Bratislava its menu could not be further from the actual French cuisine. Verne restaurant offers delicious local savor combining Hungarian and Slovak traditional food with more European hints. You can find it at 18 Hviezdoslav square (Hviezdoslavovo namestie), and considering its prestigious location it is areal food bargain. It’s a bit hidden in a basement, but do give it a go and try to find it – it is really worth it.
Having read various evaluations and comments on the diversity of the service there I guess it depends on which shift you are lucky to catch. My favourite part of the whole restaurant is its decor – it is an interior design delight on every level, but it helps if you are actually from the area, so you appreciate the different aspects of the design even more.
You can find old radios, roses hanging from the ceiling, vintage chairs and lamps and all kind of goodies from your grandma’s living room. It is definitely a place to go when visiting Bratislava, especially if you want to indulge in taste-heaven for normal prices (plus surround yourself with some eye-candy).
QUESTION: HAVE YOU EVER VISITED BRATISLAVA?
